Pakers

Packers are downhole tools for oil and gas wells

Refers to a downhole tool connected to the downhole string, used to isolate the tubing from the casing of oil and gas wells or the annular space of the open hole wellbore.Widely used in drilling, cementing, testing, completion, water injection, downhole operations, etc.

When it is necessary to seal the oil and gas well casing or the annular space of the open hole wellbore, the packer is connected to the downhole string, and after reaching the design depth, the packer on the packer is driven by hydraulic pressure to expand and seal the annular space of the oil and gas well casing.Different forms of packers have different ways of starting and unblocking.

After the hydraulic expansion type packer reaches the design depth, it is pressurized from the oil pipe, and high-pressure liquid acts on the inner cavity of the rubber cylinder through the pressure transmission pores inside the packer. Under the action of throttling pressure difference, the rubber cylinder expands and seals the annular space of the oil casing.When the oil pressure is released and the oil sleeve pressure is balanced, the rubber cylinder shrinks back to its original state by its own rebound force to achieve unsealing.

After the compression type packer reaches the design depth, pressure is applied from the oil pipe, and high-pressure liquid acts on the piston mechanism through the pressure transmission pores inside the packer. Under the action of throttling pressure difference, the compression rubber cylinder expands and seals the annular space of the oil casing.

When the oil pressure is released and the oil sleeve pressure is balanced, the rubber cylinder relies on its own rebound force to restore its original state and achieve unsealing.

Usage process

1. Before entering the well, the packer must undergo well flushing and flushing operations;

2. Sealing operation: After completing the low-level replacement task, seal the packer according to the design method;

3. Unsealing operation: Hydraulic expansion and compression packers can automatically unseal after the oil jacket pressure is balanced.

Other designs of unsealable packers have different unsealing methods.
