A drill pipe is a critical component in oil and gas drilling operations, serving as a hollow, high-strength steel tube that connects the surface drilling rig to the bottomhole assembly (BHA) and drill bit. It transmits rotational torque, axial force, and drilling fluid (mud) to facilitate the drilling process.
Thicker-walled pipes used near the BHA to provide transitional stiffness between drill collars and standard pipes.
